Abstract (EN)The purpose of this article is to understand how academics in management deal with the concept of generation in workplace. A conceptual framework of generational diversity was elaborated through an interdisciplinary literature analysis. Four levels of analysis (society, career, organization and occupation) and three dimensions (age, cohort, event/period) were identified. Authors propose a meta-analysis of 65 papers in management classified with this conceptual framework. The results show a diversity of generational approaches with a focus on age and cohort dimensions at the societal level. Four factors seem to explain these results: the recent desynchronization of generational dimensions and levels, the novelty of theoretical models, stereotypes amplified by mass medias, and the methodology used by researchers. This paper contributes to develop a more realistic view of the generational diversity in workplace for academics and practitioners. It also highlight unexplored but promising new research areas.
