dc.description.abstractfrÀ partir d’entretiens qualitatifs et de données statistiques, cet article met au jour les principes de justice mobilisés par les concepteurs et les utilisateurs de l’algorithme Boléro, mis en place à l’université Paris-Dauphine au début des années 1990. Deux principes de justice semblent ainsi orienter les décisions autour de l’algorithme, répondant à des considérations tant organisationnelles qu’historiques : une logique d’efficacité adossée à un principe méritocratique, d’une part, qui se fonde sur l’appréciation du niveau individuel des étudiants et leur capacité supposée à réussir à Dauphine ; un principe d’« équilibre juste », d’autre part, outillé par la mise en place de quotas souples visant à obtenir une variété de profils autour de certains paramètres. Les impensés de la sélection sont alors abordés, avec une attention particulière portée aux taux d’admission différenciés selon le profil des candidats et aux effets d’éviction et de concentration de lycées parmi les pourvoyeurs d’étudiants dauphinois.en

dc.description.abstractenThe selection in Paris-Dauphine University: the Boléro algorithm implementation and its effects Based on both interviews and data, this article aims to identify the principles of justice mobilized by the designers and users of the “Boléro algorithm,” implemented in Paris-Dauphine University as early as the beginning of the 1990s. Two principles of justice structure the algorithm design and use, responding to both organizational and historical considerations: a logic of efficiency based on a meritocratic principle, on the one hand, depending on the appreciation of the individual level of the students and their supposed capacity to succeed at Dauphine; a principle of “fair balance,” on the other hand, resuming in flexible quotas aimed enabling a variety of profiles around certain parameters. Some shadow aspects of the selection are then discussed, especially the differentiation of admission rates according to the candidates’ profiles as well as the selection effect of high schools providing students.en
